Razorback Brew 9/28: Unmatched

Today, Arkansas volleyball sweeps away Auburn.

Good morning. Arkansas volleyball is proving to be a big problem…for anyone facing them, that is. The Volley Hogs secured another impressive victory last night, and the Razorback soccer team will look to do the same this evening.

Looking Ahead: The latest episode of Sam Pittman Live features the Head Hog discussing last Saturday's LSU game and the upcoming Texas A&M game with Chuck Barrett. Luke Hasz joins the show as well after his huge two touchdown game, and Hudson Clark also stops by before he goes back to his hometown to play A&M.

🔺 Make It A Dozen. Three sets is all the 14th-ranked Volley Hogs needed to claim their 12th consecutive match victory in a convincing win over Auburn. A quick look at the numbers tells us just how dominant the Razorbacks were against the 24th-ranked team in the country.

  • Arkansas allowed just 34 points on the night, the least since 2015.

  • The mere six points Arkansas surrendered in the third set ties the program record in the current scoring era for least points allowed in one set and is the fewest by an SEC foe ever.

  • The Hogs hit .435 as a team, the sixth-highest clip in program history, and held Auburn to a negative percentage at -.049.

  • Graduate Jill Gillen’s two service aces brings her career total to 160 and ties the program ace record.

🔺 Travel Team. Tonight will mark the third match in four SEC contests the No. 7 Arkansas soccer team is on the road. The Hogs will square off against Missouri in Columbia this evening in hopes to continue their four-match win streak. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the match will be televised on SEC Network. The Hogs’ first national broadcast will be against Florida State for the ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday, November 30 at 6 pm on ESPN2. 10 of Arkansas’ 16 SEC contests will be broadcast on national television, most notably the Hogs’ game at LSU, reigning NCAA Champions, on January 21 on ESPN or ESPN2. 🔺 Road Pavin’. Former Arkansas offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt was an absolute stud this past week in the NFL. Froholdt dominated the line of scrimmage for the Arizona Cardinals during their first win of the season against the Dallas Cowboys, surrendering no pressures and helped the Cardinals record a season-high 222 yards on the ground with two scores. 🔺 Three For Third. Arkansas men’s golf capped off an impressive week in SEC Match Play by defeating Ole Miss 3-2 to finish 3rd in the event. Manuel Lozada and John Driscoll III each won their respective matches with holes to spare, while Jacob Skov Oleson earned the decisive point in 19 holes.

Jacob is now 11-4-2 all time in match play, and the Hogs have improved to 6-0 in three years at the event.
