Razorback Brew 9/1: It's about that time

Today, we prepare for the start of the Arkansas football season.

Good morning. It’s September. It’s football season. All is right in the world. We’re making our way down I-49 and 1-40 today for tomorrow’s season-opener in Little Rock. Come along with us for the ride!

Hardwood Hogs: The Arkansas men’s basketball program will officially open the 2023-24 season – the fifth under head coach Eric Musselman – on November 6. Click here to view the full non-conference schedule.

Now, what has all been mixed into today’s Brew?

🎥 ALL ACCESS FROM CAMP

Yes Lord. In the final episode of the fall camp edition of The Follow, get to know incoming transfer safety Alfahiym Walcott on and off the field, hear from new offensive coordinator Dan Enos, and step inside the OneArkansas NIL kickoff luncheon.

🎥 RESURGENCE

In 1998, Arkansas football was brought back to life. The Hogs+ original film “Resurgence” chronicles the culture-changing run of the 1998 football team under new head coach Houston Nutt, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the greatest opening season of any Razorback coach to date.

Officially less than one week from the premiere, take 3 minutes out of your day to watch this new extended teaser.

👀 DON’T MISS OUT

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 We’ve Arrived. The offseason is finally finished. Arkansas football is back in action tomorrow at noon against Western Carolina. Click here for all the game day info you’ll need with the Hogs in Little Rock, and catch up on the latest edition of Sam Pittman Live as the Head Hog previews the first game of the season.

As we conclude our countdown to the start of football season, we of course have to spotlight our No. 1. Quarterback KJ Jefferson is on the verge of breaking many records during his third season leading the Hogs. He’s on pace to becoming the program’s all-time leader in completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns, total yards, and more.

It all begins tomorrow at noon in War Memorial Stadium. Catch kickoff on SEC Network Plus and ESPN Plus.

🔺 First Tee Things. The Arkansas women’s golf team is set to open fall season today, the 17th under head coach Shauna Taylor, in Pebble Beach, CA at the Carmel Cup. This marks the second year Arkansas will commence its season playing at the prestigious Pebble Beach Golf Links. Tournament play begins today and runs into Sunday. Click here to see Arkansas’ lineup and opposition out west.

🔺 Gotta Love The Classics. Arkansas baseball’s fall season officially begins in one week, and the Razorbacks’ annual Fall Classic is set for Friday, September 15, at Baum-Walker Stadium. The intrasquad scrimmage begins at 6pm and is free for the public to attend. Gates will open at 5 pm, and parking for the event is free. Click here for more info.

🔺 Grind Don’t Stop. No. 21 Arkansas volleyball will complete a three-day match streak tonight at 7pm by hosting Colorado State at Barnhill. CSU received votes in this week’s poll after a win over then-No. 10 Kentucky and a 3-1 loss over then-No. 3 Stanford in their opening matches. Arkansas gets the day off Saturday before capping off the week with a match against its third Big Ten opponent of the season, Michigan, at 11am Sunday. Both matches will air on SEC Network Plus.

🔺 No Blemishes. The eighth-ranked Razorbacks handed Milwaukee its first loss of the season to close out an undefeated August with a 5-2 victory. Senior forward Ava Tankersley netted her first goal of the season to give the Hogs an early lead four minutes into the match, and drew a foul that led to the Hogs’ second goal of the game via a Sierra Cota-Yarde penalty. Morgan White put in her team-leading fourth goal of the year early in the second half, and first-time scorer sophomore Kacie Laurie propelled the Hogs to their first three-goal victory of the season in the 84th minute.

The 3-0-1 Razorbacks are back on the road this weekend when they face North Carolina on Sunday at 1pm on ACC Network.
