🏈 RAZORBACK FOOTBALL PREVIEW

Written by Alyssa Riley
After a thrilling 24-14 win at Auburn last Saturday, the Arkansas Razorbacks celebrated what was initially predicted to be a Tiger victory. Looking forward, the Arkansas football team and its fans will be excitedly trekking across states this weekend for the next conquest – a longtime rival in the Lone Star State. That’s right, the Southwest Classic is back for the 81st time!
On Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m., the Razorbacks will be stepping up to the Texas A&M Aggies at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Although the rivalry dates back to 1903, the two SEC schools did not play each other for 16 years through the ‘90s and ‘00s. The Aggies, who beat Bowling Green last week by just six points, took home the trophy at last year’s Classic with a 34-22 score, as well as in 2022 with a neck-and-neck score of 23-21. However, the Hogs are confident in their overall record of 3-1 and hope to make it four this Saturday.
Taylen Green has completed 65 of the 121 passes this season, throwing for 957 passing yards and four touchdowns. Green has also aided the Razorbacks’ running game, making them second in the country with 17 rushing touchdowns, as well as 325 running yards on 59 carries. If Aggie quarterback Conner Weigman returns for this game, the stats are a bit different: he has completed 23 out of 44 passes, 225 yards with two touchdowns, and has zero rushing touchdowns.
Although the matchup predictor is not in our favor, the Southwest Classic has a reputation for being a tossup. So, we will see who comes out on top at the AT&T Stadium on Saturday when the rivalry recommences.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 He’s The Man. Defensive lineman Cam Ball has been named to the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watch List! The award signifies exemplary leadership by a college player. He has played 26 of the last 27 games and has started all four this season. The winner of the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award will receive a $10,000 contribution in his name to his school’s athletic scholarship fund.

🔺 Road Hogs. The second-ranked soccer team picked up their first SEC road win at Vanderbilt. The Razorbacks beat the Commodores 2-0 on a rainy Thursday night. Anaiyah Robinson and Jailyn Brownlee scored the Arkansas goals, while Keegan Smith recorded a career-high seven saves in the net. The Razorbacks return home to host No. 23 South Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m.
🔺 Dive Right In. Arkansas swim & dive hosts their first meet of the season today! They’ll host Drury at 3 p.m. in the Arkansas Natatorium. You wouldn’t think it, but these two teams have some history. They’ve played 25 times since the 1989-90 season. Arkansas owns the series with a 22-3 record.

🔺 Red Hot. The 2024 Chile Pepper Festival is this weekend at the Washington County Fairgrounds! The men’s cross country team will run the McDonnell Memorial 8K at 10:30 a.m. and the women’s team will race the Harter’s Habanero 5K at 11:10 a.m. Over 4,000 runners and teams from across the country will be competing.
