🎙️ HOG POD: KJ JEFFERSON

The one they all turn to. Why did KJ Jefferson return for his senior season at Arkansas? He felt he had some unfinished business with his teammates. The latest episode of the Hog Pod with Bo Mattingly goes inside KJ’s mindset heading into the 2023 season, and how he leads Razorback football in his own way.

🎥 GROWING UP GROVEY PART II

QB4. Part 2 of the Hogs+ original series “Growing Up Grovey” goes back to the heart of the era, including an epic showdown with Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware, as Quinn elevated to the top of the quarterbacking landscape. The Hogs opened the 1988 season with 10 straight victories, including their first outright conference championship in 13 years, while rising to national title contention. In 1989, Quinn became the first, and only, Arkansas QB to win back-to-back conference crowns and earn consecutive Cotton Bowl appearances.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Relay Record. Razorback Rosey Effiong and the United States Mixed 4 x 400m relay set a world record time of 3:08.8 seconds to close out the first day of the World Athletics Championships. Rosey, a junior this upcoming year, ran the second leg for the U.S. team and posted a split of 50.38.

More is to come for Razorbacks in Budapest today. Jaydon Hibbert didn’t just qualify for today’s triple jump final, he set a qualifying record distance with a leap of 58 feet and one inch over the weekend. The 400m semifinal will feature another Razorback, Nickisha Pryce, after she won her opening round heat in 50.38 seconds.

🔺 Showing Physicality. Arkansas football had their second scrimmage of Fall Camp over the weekend, and Head Hog Sam Pittman was very pleased with how his team looked. Hear his praise for defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat, injury updates, and just how far placekicker Cam Little’s longest field goal make was in Pittman’s latest presser.

🔺 Smackover. We’re now just 12 days from the start of the 2023 Arkansas football season. The No. 12 jersey is retired for Razorback legend Clyde “Smackover” Scott, who won a silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles at the 1948 Olympics. Scott was an All-American and a three-time All-SWC player before becoming the eighth overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. He won NFL championships with the Eagles (1949) and Detroit (1952).

🔺 Tuned Up. The 25th-ranked Arkansas volleyball team got its first taste of competition over the weekend down at Alma High School. The Razorbacks defeated Missouri State, 2-1, in their lone preseason exhibition match. Click here to check out the highlights from Saturday’s match.

The Volleyhogs officially begin their season this Friday against Michigan State in Barnhill Arena. SEC Network Plus will carry the match, which starts at 7pm.
