Razorback Brew 8/14: One for the road

Today, Arkansas women's hoops comes back home.

Good morning. It’s been a phenomenal year for Hogs+ telling the story of Arkansas hoops. Original films 100 Seasons of Arkansas Basketball and Do You Believe in Fairy Tales have both been nominated in the 47th annual Mid-America Emmy Awards, and it’s all because of you, the fans. Watch both of them on HogsPlus.com.

Camp Insight: Hogs+ senior contributor Clay Henry has many takeaways from watching the Arkansas football team practice. Read why the offensive line play has gotten Clay Henry even more excited for the upcoming season.

🎙️ HOG POD: COLBY HALE

On to greater heights. Prior to Colby Hale’s arrival at Arkansas, the Razorback soccer program had never been to the NCAA Tournament. They’ve made the big dance nine time in his 11 years on the job.

After back-to-back trips to the Elite Eight, Coach Hale is ready for the program to take the next step. Go inside that process with Bo Mattingly in this episode of the Hog Pod.

🌟 A STAR IS BORN

Growing Up Grovey. With the same grace and determination he displayed on the football field, former Arkansas quarterback Quinn Grovey was able to return unconditional love to the mom who had once taught her little boy how to love others and live life to its fullest.

Part one of the Hogs+ exclusive docuseries dives into the beginning of Grovey’s legendary career on the Mighty Mite fields of southern Oklahoma, where he rose to be one of the nation’s top college quarterbacks of the late 1980s.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 One For The Road. Arkansas women’s basketball is coming back home undefeated! The Razorbacks finished their 2023 European tour on a high note with a 100-61 victory over the University of Regina played at the Zougrafour Indoor Basketball Court in Athens, Greece. Arkansas led by as many as 40 and had four players finishing in double figures with freshman Jenna Lawrence leading the way with 15 points.

The future is certainly bright for Mike Neighbors’ team. Hear what Arkansas’ head coach had to say of the big win.

🔺 Keep Watching. On top of making the watch lists for the Maxwell Award and the Doak Walker Award, Arkansas star running back Rocket Sanders found his name listed on the preseason watch list for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. Rocket was one of 45 elite college football players to crack the list. See what makes him so special in the latest edition of Razorback Film Room, featuring Rocket and former Hog o-lineman Travis Swanson.

🔺 We Talkin’ Bout Practice. Head coach Sam Pittman estimates that his football team ran between 105-115 plays in their first scrimmage of Fall Camp. Hear what the Head Hog had to say of his team competing against one another with less than three weeks remaining until the season opener in his post-scrimmage presser.

🔺 Barreling Through The Gaps. We’re now inside 20 days from the start of the 2023 Arkansas football season. This is a big year for No. 20 Dominque Johnson, who has a chance to take the next step as a pivotal member of the Hog backfield. The 252-pound power running back missed time last season due to injury, but no one had more rushing touchdowns (7) in 2021 than the Crowley, TX native. Read what offensive coordinator Dan Enos sees in his running back room in Clay Henry’s 2023 Season Preview on HogsPlus.com.

🔺 Pouring It On. The preseason for the No. 8 Arkansas soccer team concluded with a 6-0 victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Saturday. Once midfielder Patricia Tsokos scored the game’s first goal in the 40th minute, the avalanche officially began. The Hogs scored five more goals over the course of 24 minutes, with Bella Field, Taliyah Spain, Sophia Aragon, Anna Podojil and Ava Tankersley all finding the net.

The Razorbacks officially begin their season this Thursday against Arkansas State. First kick is set for 6:30pm, and the match will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
