Razorback Brew 8/11: Pads Aplenty

Today, Arkansas football takes the next step in camp.

Good morning. Practice is progressing at Fall Camp for Arkansas, and the women’s basketball team has one game to go over in Europe. Might as well put a double shot in that cup of yours, you’ll need it.

Now, what else did we mix into today’s Brew?

🎥 Growing Up Grovey
🏈 Head Hog talks pads
🐗 And so much more!

🌟 A STAR IS BORN

Growing Up Grovey. With the same grace and determination he displayed on the football field, former Arkansas quarterback Quinn Grovey was able to return unconditional love to the mom who had once taught her little boy how to love others and live life to its fullest.

Part one of the Hogs+ exclusive docuseries dives into the beginning of Grovey’s legendary career on the Mighty Mite fields of southern Oklahoma, where he rose to be one of the nation’s top college quarterbacks of the late 1980s.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Incoming Contact. Arkansas football is now in pads, and the Hogs’ first scrimmage of Fall Camp takes place tomorrow following a spider-padded practice today. Arkansas went through goal-line plays, two-minute drills, and much more in the muggy Fayetteville air on Thursday. Hear Head Coach Sam Pittman talk all about the practice, as well as which players are impressing him in his latest presser.

🔺 51 For 51. Watch list season continues for the Arkansas football team as linebacker Chris Paul Jr. was named to the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award, which recognizes the top linebacker in college football. The sophomore standout is coming off an impressive 2022 season wherein he earned freshman All-American honors from College Football News and The Athletic as well as freshman All-SEC praise from the league’s coaches. “Pooh” is one of 51 linebackers to crack the list, a nod to the storied “51” pro jersey worn by the award’s namesake, Dick Butkus.

🔺 Last Stop. The Arkansas women’s basketball team is on the last leg of its European Tour this weekend with a game against University of Regina in Athens, Greece this Sunday. Get caught up with Makayla Daniels and Samara Spencer and see how the Razorbacks are spending their time in the beautiful country.

🔺 Gearing Up. Two weeks remain until the season opener for Arkansas volleyball, and their first and only exhibition is next Saturday against Missouri State at Alma High School. Check out the Volleyhogs reacting to their new gear for the 2023 season as they reported for practice this week.

🔺 Hot Potato. Tomorrow marks just 21 days from the start of the 2023 Arkansas football season. Don’t you love those games when the ball rarely touches the ground? KJ Jefferson’s most efficient outing from last season came in game two, when he completed 18 of his 21 passes for a completion percentage of 85.7%! Relive the Hogs’ electric 44-30 victory over South Carolina in this episode of The Follow.
