📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Pack Leaders. Over 40 Razorbacks of the past and present are competing in national championships this month, starting with the USATF championships.

Chris Bailey produced the leading time in the men’s 400m qualifier, as his time of 45.05 gave him the 0.01 second edge in his heat. Arkansas alum Taliyah Brooks is also currently second in the heptathlon with 3,890 points, while three current Razorbacks, Britton Wilson, Rosey Effiong, and Paris Peoples, advanced in the women’s 400m. Britton led the trio with a time of 50.08 that ranked second in the field.

🔺 Proud Pioneer. Arkansas alum Shafiqua Maloney earned the first medal in the 800m for St. Vincent and the Grenadines this week with a winning time of 2:04.98 at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Maloney is the first medalist in the 800m and second overall for St. Vincent.

🔺 Moving On Up. Arkansas women’s tennis has hired Tatiana Makarova, a former Texas A&M volunteer assistant and ITA All-American, as a new assistant coach for the program. Makarova helped lead the Aggies to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament and a 30-3 record overall last year after having a very successful five-year player for the Aggies. She achieved ITA All-American status in both singles and doubles, and a peak ITA ranking of No. 10.

🔺 Always Be Capitalizing. We’re now just 57 days from the start of Arkansas’ football season. The Hogs scored 57 points off turnovers in 2022, their highest total in the Sam Pittman era, and the most since 2017. The first seven points came in Week 1 thanks to first quarter interception courtesy of cornerback Dwight McGlothern. Relive that moment during Arkansas’ big win over Cincinnati on this episode of The Follow, only on HogsPlus.com.

🔺 All The Buzz. The Charlotte Hornets’ leading scorer during the California Classic was none other than Arkansas alum Nick Smith Jr. Fresh off being selected 27th overall in last month’s NBA Draft, Smith put up 26 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in two games against San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors this week.

We’re looking back at our conversation with ESPN’s Cole Cubelic, who was really impressed with Sam Pittman’s coordinator hires.
