Razorback Brew 7/18: Champions inbound
Today, KJ Jefferson garners extremely high praise.
Good morning. Talkin’ season has almost arrived for Arkansas, but there’s still plenty to talk about beforehand. Track and field is only getting better, and one of the Razorback’s best on the hardwood gave back in a new way.
Now, what else did we mix into today’s Brew?
🎥 Sam Pittman reviews the tape

🐗 And so much more!
🎥 FILM ROOM: COACH PITTMAN
Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman will be speaking behind the podium tomorrow at SEC Media Days, but he knows his way around some tape and a laser pointer even better.
The Head Hog himself joined his former center Travis Swanson in the film room to break down some key plays from the 2022 season. Some of those plays feature Rocket Sanders, Bryce Stephens, Hudson Clark, and KJ Jefferson.

🔺 Champions Inbound. Jamaican Romaine Beckford, a double 2023 NCAA champion in the high jump with South Florida, has signed with Arkansas and will be part of the Razorback squad for the 2023-24 season. Beckford recently won the high jump title at the 2023 Jamaica Championships with a mark of 7-3.75 (2.23). He will represent Jamaica at the NACAC U23 Championships this week in Costa Rica and currently is in position to qualify for the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Romaine is not the only addition made to Arkansas track and field this week. Tiana LoStracco, a middle distance runner and winner of five conference titles at Bradley University, has also signed with the Razorbacks for the upcoming season. Tiana hails from Guelph, Ontario, who most recently claimed a pair of titles at the 2023 Missouri Valley Outdoor Championships in the 800m (2:05.79) and 1,500m (4:28.75).
🔺 Today’s Special. We’re now just 46 days from the start of Arkansas’ football season, and we can’t forget that punters are people, too. No. 46 Owen Lawson was booming punts for Coffeyville Community College for the last two years, and is now prepared to contribute to an SEC special teams room. He’s one of two punters who transferred to Arkansas this year.
🔺 Ideal Example. Last week at Farmington High School, Arkansas women’s basketball starter Saylor Poffenbarger hosted a three-day basketball camp for elementary school girl players. Saylor was joined by teammates Taliah Scott and former Farmington standout Jenna Lawrence, and even got her mother Amy Poffenbarger, a former college basketball player herself, to help out. Click here to read what kind of impact the freshman-turned-sophomore wants to leave on younger players.
🔺 Doing It All. There’s not much Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson can’t do, and when compared 13 other starters in the SEC, former Alabama defensive back Roman Harper says he’s the best. “For me, KJ Jefferson is the best quarterback because of his ability to do it all in every offense and still be successful and not turn it over." Check out Harper’s full statement as to why KJ is QB1 in the SEC here.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T. With SEC Media Days underway, and preseason honors continuing to be released, we’re asking the question: Is Arkansas getting the respect it deserves?
