Razorback Brew 7/17: A legend returns

Today, Arkansas softball gets a huge boost.

Good morning. SEC media days are arriving this week, and we’re ready to spring into a new season. Before Arkansas takes the podium on Wednesday, take some time to look back at the last year of Arkansas athletics with AD Hunter Yurachek in a four-part series with Hogs+.

Now, what else did we mix into today’s Brew?

🎙️ HOG POD: NORM DEBRIYN

From humble beginnings. The story of how Arkansas baseball went from playing at the fairgrounds to becoming one of the top programs in the country starts with Norm DeBriyn. The legendary Razorback baseball coach found himself in Fayetteville back in 1965, and ended up building a powerhouse that he orchestrated for over three decades.

In this throwback episode of the Hog Pod, Bo Mattingly sits down with DeBriyn to discuss his coaching career, how he helped get Baum-Walker Stadium built, and passing the baton to his former player, Dave Van Horn.

🏈 RUN DMC

For the first time in 15 years, former Arkansas Razorback star running back Darren McFadden and head coach Houston Nutt reunited to share first-hand accounts from on and off the field, and never-before-told stories of their time with the Razorbacks in the Hogs+ three-part film “Put ‘Em In The Heisman”

Each episode focuses on pivotal parts of Arkansas Razorback football from the three years that McFadden and Nutt shared the field — beginning with McFadden’s recruitment out of high school, his emergence as one of the best running backs in college football, and his contention for the Heisman Trophy two seasons in a row.
