📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Heating Up. Per usual, Britton Wilson did Britton Wilson things for Arkansas track and field. The junior star set meet and facility records in the women’s 400m, and also clocked the fastest time in the 400m hurdles, easily advancing to the Outdoor Championship finals in each event. She also now holds the second-most sub-49.40 times by an American woman in the 400m. Check out this exclusive feature piece on Britton’s record ambitions via NBCSports.com.
Arkansas’ 4 × 400m relay team of Paris Peoples, Aliyah Pyatt, Nickisha Pryce, and Rosey Effiong also displayed dominance with the fastest time in Heat 2, setting up a date in tomorrow’s finals.
🔺 Two Games In The Fall. We’re now 86 days from the start of Arkansas’ football season. Let’s take a moment to remember when the 1986 Razorbacks defeated both Texas and No. 7 Texas A&M in less than a month, because taking down the Longhorns and Aggies in the same season will always bring a smile to our faces. The Hogs finished an impressive 9-3 that year and was the 15th ranked team in the final AP poll.
🔺 Hall Call. 1986 happened to be the second year of Nolan Richardson’s tenure coaching Arkansas men’s basketball. The legendary head coach has added a third Hall of Fame honor to his illustrious resume as he was inducted into the third annual National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Foundation Hall of Fame. The NJCAA Hall of Fame seeks to honor individuals who have paved the way for opportunities at the two-year level – athletically and professionally, and those who have been pioneers throughout the history of the association.
Relive the glory days of Richardson patrolling the sidelines in Barnhill Arena, and then Bud Walton Arena in the final installment of the 100 Seasons of Arkansas Basketball series, exclusively on HogsPlus.com.
🔺 Studious Slugger. Arkansas’ Jared Wegner has become the sixth Razorback baseball player to named an Academic All-American. After putting together a 3.50 GPA at Creighton, Jared became a graduate transfer for the year and maintained a 3.80 GPA while pursuing his master’s degree in operations management from Arkansas. He earned second-team recognition from College Sports Communicators (CSC). The outfielder slashed .313/.457/.673 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI for the Razorbacks this past season.
🔺 Sprint Into The Weekend. Several Razorbacks for the men’s track team are going for podium finishes tonight in Austin. Rojé Stona and Ralford Mullings are set to take part in the discus final, Jaydon Hibbert, Ryan Brown, Carey McLeod will compete in the Triple Jump final, and Phillip Lemonious is leading the pack in the 110m Hurdles final. The foursome of Lance Lang, James Benson II, Connor Washington, and Chris Bailey will also go for gold in the 4 x 400 Relay
