Razorback Brew 6/7: And they're off

Today, the NCAA Outdoor Championships begin.

Good morning. Kick off Track and Field Outdoor Championships week by watching the exclusive Hogs+ documentary — “Why Not You? - The Lance Harter Legacy” — and learn about the legacy Coach Harter is leaving behind at Arkansas.

Now, what else did we mix into today’s Brew?

👨‍🍳 COOKIN’ WITH JAYDON HIBBERT

Arkansas triple jumper, Jaydon Hibbert, is quickly making his mark. At the age of just 18, Jaydon has broken multiple record and even topped a few Razorback greats.

Tera Talmadge sits down with the SEC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year to go over his recent record breaking jump at the SEC Outdoor Championships, and learn how he got to this point in his career. Plus, Jaydon gets in the kitchen to have some fun and show Tera how to cook one of his favorite Jamaican dishes.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 The No. 1 men’s track and field team in the country hails from Fayetteville, and the Razorbacks are seeking a third national team title in Austin, TX. Following an NCAA Indoor team championship in March, Arkansas will look for its 11th sweep of national team titles, and potentially the first ever school to sweep all four NCAA track and field titles in the same season if the women’s team pulls off the same.

Ayden Owens-Delerme (400m hurdles), Wayne Pinnock (long jump) and Jaydon Hibbert (triple jump) are all projected to win their respective events according to Track & Field News. Find out when the Hogs compete here.

🔺 First Place Cover. The women’s Outdoor Championships begin tomorrow, when Britton Wilson will look to maintain her dominance. Britton became the first female athlete to be on the cover of Track & Field News magazine, which has been produced on a monthly basis since 1948.

🔺 Petty Play. We’re now 88 days from the start of Arkansas’ football season. 88 yards is how long Jermaine Petty’s game-sealing interception against No. 17 Auburn went for in a 42-17 win back in 2001. He also finished that game with an astounding 13 tackles. It was just one of many moments from that season that earned Petty All-SEC honors for the year.

🔺 Get ’Em While They’re Hot! Season ticket renewals for Arkansas men’s and women’s basketball are live! Re-up your seats inside Bud Walton Arena to catch the Hogs battle it out and make another run for the NCAA Tournament. The deadline to renew for both programs is Friday, June 30.

🔺 Sweet Carolina. Arkansas women’s tennis freshman Carolina Gomez Alonso was selected as the ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year this week, becoming the third Razorback in program history to earn the award. Carolina ended the year ranked No. 44 in the final ITA rankings, named SEC Freshman of the Year honors, and was selected to compete in the NCAA Singles Championships following a dual season in which she won 12 out of 17 matches, and 19 out of 25 overall.
