Razorback Brew 6/5: Keep the faith

Today, we're closing out the Fayetteville Regional.

Good morning. A wild weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium continues today with the final day of the Fayetteville Regional. Check out the scenes from the Hogs’ victory last night against Santa Clara, only on Hogs+.

Now, what else did we mix into today’s Brew?

👀 SNEAK PEAK

Simplicity for success was Lance Harter’s way. There were no intricate race plans throughout his historic run as the head of Arkansas women’s track and field, rather a simple question he asked his athletes: Why not you?

Tomorrow, the premiere of “Why Not You — The Lance Harter Legacy” will drop only on HogsPlus.com. Click here to watch this teaser clip.

🎙️ THE HOG POD

All roads lead to Fayetteville. Both Jace Bohrofen and Hunter Hollan have had fascinating journeys coming to The Hill to play baseball for Arkansas, and now they’re helping another run to Omaha. Hear their own stories on the latest episodes of the Hog Pod.

🔺 Keep The Faith. By winning two out of three over the weekend, Arkansas has at least one rematch with TCU Fayetteville Regional. Two wins over the Horned Frogs today will have the Hogs moving on.

Things got off to a hot start on Friday. 10 of Arkansas’ 13 runs against Santa Clara came in a pair of five-run innings during the Hogs’ 13-6 victory. Kendall Diggs and Caleb Cali each led the way with three RBI each, and the latter efficiently knocked all three in with a seventh-inning home run that gave the Razorbacks their largest lead of the day. The win notched the Razorbacks their eighth consecutive regional opener victory since 2014.

More magic from Kendall was needed in last night’s rematch against Santa Clara, and the clutch lefty blasted a two-run homer to get the Razorbacks an assuring lead they would hold on to in the 6-4 win. Brady Tygart produced the longest start of his career (5.2 innings) and got the W with six strikeouts. Will McEntire also shined with five knockouts in just 2.2 relief innings pitched.

🔺 The Right Guard For The Job. Who’s the best offensive lineman in the SEC? We think the argument for Beaux Limmer is as strong as he is. Arkansas’ right guard graded out at 82.2 from Pro Football Focus, good enough for Second-Team All-SEC honors from the AP and PFF, and the highest for any SEC offensive lineman returning next season.

🔺 Ties To The Hill. A trio of runner-up finishes highlighted action from athletes with ties to the Arkansas Razorbacks program during the Diamond League meet on Friday. Arkansas alums Tina Šutej and Sandi Morris finished second and equal fourth in the pole vault. Razorback volunteer assistant Shamier Little was runner-up in the 400m hurdles, and Tara Davis-Woodhall, who trains in Fayetteville, placed second in the long jump.

🔺 Foreshadowing At Its Finest. Pretty soon, Shawnti Jackson will be setting record times for Arkansas track and field. She’s already doing so at the high school level. Shawnti broke the national high school record in the 100m against pro athletes at the Music City Track Carnival hosted by Vanderbilt University on Saturday. Her time of 10.89 seconds was bested the 10.94 mark set by Brianna Williams in 2019, and is now equal to the fifth-best time on the World U20 list with the equal. And this is her FIFTH national high school record broken across various events.
