Razorback Brew 6/29: Challenge accepted
Today, we learn an old foe will soon come to Bud Walton Arena.
Good morning. Our collective hat is tipped to the legendary Chuck Barrett, who was inducted into the Arkansas Sportscasters and Sports Writers Hall of Fame this week. The voice of the Razorbacks is going 31 years strong calling games for the Hogs. May we be blessed with many more years of Chuck helping us call the Hogs!
Now, what else did we mix into today’s Brew?

🔺 Challenge Accepted, Part 1. Arkansas and Duke are no strangers to facing each other on the hardwood, and they’ll meet again this Fall.
Arkansas will host Duke as part of the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. In a rematch of the 1994 National Championship that Arkansas won, the Hogs and Blue Devils will play on November 29 at 8:15pm. The two powerhouse programs have met on three other occasions, with their most recent coming in the 2022 NCAA Elite 8.

🔺 Challenge Accepted, Part 2. The Razorback women’s basketball team learned its 2024 SEC opponents this week, as their schedule features home and homes with Missouri, Alabama, and Kentucky. Arkansas is also participating in the inaugural SEC/ACC Challenge and will face Florida State on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. CT at Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
🔺 Tackle If You Dare. This week, we’re counting down KJ Jefferson’s top 5 plays from the 2022 season. At No. 2 is the second rushing touchdown for QB1 on this list. The Hogs already had taken the lead, but KJ still decided that he wanted to juke defenders to the tune of three broken tackles in a single play, leading with an aggression that is trademark to his success on the field. Check out the play and the full top 5 list, courtesy of Clay Henry, on HogsPlus.com.
🔺 Trailblazing Routes. We’re now 65 days from the start of Arkansas’ football season. In 1965, Bobby Crockett did something no other Razorback had done before. Crockett was the first Arkansas receiver to put up 100 receiving yards in multiple games in a single season. It has happened 32 times since, but Bobby was the original.
🔺 More Than A Trend. Arkansas pitcher Hagen Smith has been named an All-American for a sixth time this offseason, as Baseball America recognized him with third-team honors. Hagen made 18 appearances with 11 starts on the mound in 2023, posting an 8-2 record with a 3.64 ERA, a team-leading 109 strikeouts and two saves in 71 2/3 innings of work. He held opposing hitters to a .217 batting average on the year.
