It’s the story of how Arkansas baseball went from playing at the fairgrounds to becoming one of the top programs in the country. We visited with legendary Razorback baseball coach Norm DeBriyn, and talk about how he got the head coaching job, joining the SWC, and how he helped get Baum-Walker Stadium built. We’ll also chat with him about playing at the College World Series and recruiting current head coach Dave Van Horn.

🔺 Coaching Icon. Former Razorback baseball coach Norm DeBriyn will be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame! He transformed Arkansas into a national powerhouse when he took over as head coach in 1970 at 28 years old. He coached the Razorbacks to a 1,161-650-6 record, two Southwest Conference titles, one SEC title, 15 NCAA Tournament appearances, and four NCAA College World Series appearances.

🔺 Mom Bombs. Razorback softball great and current assistant coach Danielle Gibson Whorton has continued her success professionally, but now she has a little bit more to play for. She took off the 2024 season after becoming pregnant with her son Whitley. When she returned to the plate in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League, she hit a double to score the first run in Blaze franchise history. Later this month, she’ll play for the national team at the USA Softball All-Star Showcase. Read more about her journey as a professional athlete and a mother!

🔺 Welcome Back. The swim & dive team has hired Chris Grimmett-Norris as assistant coach! He spent time with the Razorbacks as a graduate assistant from 2018-2020. During his time at Arkansas, he helped coach two top 20 finishes. He has spent the last two years at Hawaii as an assistant coach.
