📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Smooth Swinging. 57 games down, and hopefully many more to come this year for Arkansas baseball. With the Fayetteville Regional now just two days away, let’s take a look at who really popped off the stat sheet this year for the Hogs.

  • Jared Wegner was one of four starters to bat over .300 (.308) and ended up as the clear leader in OPS (1.118) as he belted 19 extra base hits in just 133 at bats.

  • In addition to his batting prowess, Wegner was one of two Razorbacks to avoid making an error as a season-long starter. Tavian Josenberger ended up as the most efficient fielder, recording 115 putouts and seven assists with no errors.

  • Northwest Arkansas’ king of clutch, also known as Kendall Diggs, led the way with 58 RBI and had the same number of hits, which ranked second on the team.

  • Arkansas was an impressive 23-6 when one of Hagen Smith, Hunter Holland, or Will McEntire ended up getting the decision. Smith managed to hold opposing batters to a .199 average and struck out 102, both team-bests.

🔺 Diamond Duo. When the Diamond Hogs take the field Friday against Santa Clara, Arkansas will officially become one of six programs to host a regional weekend in both softball and baseball. SEC rivals Alabama, and LSU also join the exclusive 2023 club, along with other powerhouses such as Clemson and Oklahoma State.

🔺 Write These Down. When you peek into the Arkansas softball record book, center fielder Reagan Johnson’s name is already prevalent. Reagan’s freshman season netted the third-most hits (79), the sixth-highest batting average (.378) along with the seventh-most stolen bases (18) and 10th-most runs scored (47) in single-season program history. All these figures helped her earn D1Softball Freshman All-America Team honors this week.

🔺 Lefty Speaks. Playing in front of the best home crowd in the country has Hagen Smith and the Hogs rightfully pumped up for this weekend of baseball. Hear what it means to Hagen playing in Baum-Walker for a chance to go to Omaha, being both a starter and closer this year, and more in an appearance on SEC Now.

🔺 Don’t Stop Me Now. The last few years of baseball has taught Arkansas slugger Jace Bohrofen plenty. Covid-19, injuries, and other circumstances have done their best to keep him off the diamond, but when the junior from Oklahoma steps into the batter’s box, great things are inevitable. Hear the baseball journey the talented Razorback ahead of this week’s regional games on the latest episode of the Hog Pod.
