🎥 THE GOAT & THE OWL
Full throttle. With school officially out, Arkansas baseball was dialed in against South Carolina last weekend in an impressive series win. Go behind the scenes of the big weekend and find out about the time Dave Van Horn, aka the "GOAT," went up against… an owl?? You gotta hear it to believe it in this episode of The Follow.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Outright Outlook. Three wins stand in the way between Arkansas baseball and its fourth overall conference championship. Luckily, the Razorbacks’ final series of the season has exactly that many games. Arkansas is Nashville this weekend to wrap up conference play against Vanderbilt, and a sweep would give the Diamond Hogs the SEC crown. Two wins and one loss from Florida over the weekend would net the same result.
Essentially, we’re rooting for a series win, because why wouldn’t we be doing so in the first place?
First pitch in today’s series opener will be at 6pm on SEC Network. Listen to Dave Van Horn’s preview of the series here.
🔺 Community Man. ONEArkansas NIL has allowed Razorback southpaw Zack Morris to make a difference off the mound in and around Fayetteville. A team captain and two-time Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll member (2021 & 2022), Zack has been named to the SEC Community Service Team for helping local kids through Fayetteville Youth Baseball, Pagnozzi Parker Charities, and so much more. Learn more about Zack’s off-field accomplishments here.
🔺 Lottery Tickets. The top of the NBA Draft order has officially been set following Tuesday’s Draft Lottery. Arkansas point guard Anthony Black has established himself as a popular prospect amongst the top 10 picks, and is the current consensus favorite to go ninth overall to the Utah Jazz. Following Anthony is his backcourt teammate Nick Smith Jr., who’s projected to go 14th overall to the New Orleans Pelicans. Check out the full consensus mock draft, and catch Head Coach Eric Musselman talking about his players at the NBA Draft Combine.
🔺 Top It Off. Arkansas men’s golf broke nearly a dozen program records and had all five players shoot under par during the 54-hole NCAA Salem Regional this week. The Hogs finished at 45-under-par for the week, which was good enough for second place and a spot in the upcoming NCAA Championships.
Segundo Oliva Pinto finished fifth and led the way with a UA Regional record-setting 13-under-par. Wil Gibson (T-8, -11) and Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira (t-11, -10) also broke the previous school record low of 8-under-par. Mateo was the only Razorback to shoot in the 60s for all three days.
