Razorback Brew 4/24: Two for the road
Today, we're still watching all of Rylin Hedgecock's home runs.
Good morning. It was a bad weekend to be a softball when the Razorbacks were in the batter’s box. And while Arkansas took care of business on the road against a top-20 team, track and field held down the fort on their own track. We’ve got you covered from the weekend.
The Comeback Kid: Arkansas forward Trevon Brazile joins Tera Talmadge in this week’s edition of Tuesday with Tera. Be sure to catch the episode to hear the latest on Trevon’s recovery and his decision to return for another year at Arkansas.
Now, what’s all been mixed into today’s Brew?

🐗 And so much more!
🥎 RYLIN HEDGECOCK’S VERY GOOD DAY
Back, back, back, gone! 14 runs don’t just come by accident, they’re a product of powerful hitting.
Having Rylin Hedgecock helps too. The redshirt junior belted three home runs in a blowout win over the 20th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats over the weekend.
Enjoy exclusive access with Razorback softball coach Courtney Deifel and Rylin during the doubleheader sweep against Kentucky in Lexington.

🔺 Ceilings Shattered. Records were broken all over the track at the John McDonnell Invitational. Ackera Nugent claimed the 100m title in 11.13 seconds, and Nickisha Pryce won a 400m race full of Razorbacks in 51.47 seconds. Ackera’s time shattered the previous meet record of 11.30 set 13 years ago, while Pryce bettered the meet record of 51.71 set by current teammate Tiana Wilson in 2021.
But we’re not through, yet. Ralford Mullings and Rojé Stona continued their incredible seasons Friday as well. Ralford won the discus with a throw of 199 feet, 2 inches, setting a new meet record by over five feet, and Rojé’s new career best of 65 feet, 10.5 inches in the shot put makes him the new record holder for the meet. He moves to No. 3 on the all-time UA list, becoming only the third-ever Razorback to surpass 20 meters.
🔺 Parading For Pars. Arkansas men’s golf put together the program’s third-best final score at the SEC Championship and had the second-most pars at the tournament. The Hogs’ 10th-place finish was highlighted by Julian Perico’s fantastic final 18. Julian shot a 4-under-par 66 in his final round to climb 21 spots into a tie for sixth. Arkansas led the field by playing the par 5’s at 10-under (4.67 avg.), and finished with the second-most pars as a team. Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira led all individual golfers with 43 pars.
🔺 All The Answers. Arkansas soccer sealed their undefeated spring exhibition season thanks to a 3-2 victory over Illinois. The match featured five first-half goals by both teams, with the Razorbacks scoring the final three. Anna Podojil, Taylor Berman, and Patricia Tsokos netted the three unanswered goals to secure the Hogs’ fifth win of the spring.
🔺 Two For The Road. Inclement weather created a doubleheader for Razorback softball to capitalize on, and the Hogs took advantage. No. 12 Arkansas defeated No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats 8-1, and then 14-6 Saturday to clinch the series. Redshirt junior Rylin Hedgecock took no prisoners at the plate in game two, crushing a career-high three home runs and matching her career high in RBI with seven to help the Hogs end the game in just five innings.
Arkansas softball has now won 11-straight SEC road series dating back to early 2020. Head coach Courtney Deifel is just one win shy of 300 for her career, and she’ll get a crack at it tonight as the Hogs stay in the Bluegrass State to play Western Kentucky. First pitch is at 6pm.
⚾️ HOG POD: TAVIAN JOSENBERGER
Staying the course. Arkansas outfielder Tavian Josenberger is finally getting to live out his dream of playing baseball in the SEC. The switch-hitting junior leads the Diamond Hogs in stolen bases (9) and is second in hits (47) while batting an impressive .322 on the year.
Hear Tavian’s story as a transfer from Kansas, to leadoff hitter at Arkansas in this week’s Hog Pod with Bo Mattingly.
