Razorback Brew 4/12: 21 run salute

Today, we're still counting all the runs from Arkansas' big win.

Good morning. Whoever thinks baseball is boring clearly doesn’t watch Arkansas play. The Diamond Hogs owned the batter’s box last night to start their week off right. How many runs did they score? We’ll give you a hint, the number is old enough to buy a beer.

Put The Tape On: Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman joins former Razorback great Travis Swanson in a special episode of Razorback Film Room tonight. Catch a sneak peak of the film session here.

Now, what's all been mixed in today's Brew?

✍️ Juicy details
⚾️ 21 run salute
🐗 And much, much more!

🏈 THE DAN ENOS DIALECT

One word stands out when it comes to Dan Enos’ plans for Arkansas’ offense: Juicy.

“This is coming up and it’s pretty juicy.”

“It’s going to get juicy right there.”

With all the playmakers at his disposal, Enos has the power to make the Razorback offense as juicy as he pleases. What does that entail? Find out in Hogs+ senior contributor Clay Henry’s piece on Enos’ return as the Hogs’ offensive coordinator.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 21, can you do something for me? Can you put up that many runs in a blowout win? The Diamond Hogs sure can. Arkansas baseball absolutely blasted the rubber off the ball against Little Rock in a 21-5 demolishing victory at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Despite winning by 16 runs, the Razorbacks actually trailed at one point in the game. The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and the entire Razorback lineup took that personally, apparently. All nine batters scored a run in the bottom of the first, and 12 of their first 13 batters reached base safely. Jace Bohrofen delivered four RBI and cross home plate thrice, and six other Razorbacks had multiple RBI.

Game No. 2 in the two-game series begins at 4pm this afternoon on SEC Network Plus.

🔺 No Ordinary Freshman. An incredible first (and perhaps final) year in Fayetteville landed Anthony Black a spot on the Kyle Macy Freshman All-America team. For a refresher, let’s list off some of Anthony’s accomplishments in just one season with Arkansas.

  • Anthony was the only player in the SEC to rank among the league’s top 25 in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. As a point guard!"

  • He was named second team All-SEC, and voted to the SEC All-Freshman team.

  • The SEC made him co-Freshman of the Week after as he was named to the Maui Invitational.

🔺 Timely Surge. A six-under-par 65 from Masters participant Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira boosted the Arkansas men’s golf team to a third-place finish in the 14-team Lewis Chitengwa Memorial. The Razorbacks turned in a final score of 24-under-par, and posted an impressive 11-2 record in the event. The Hogs’ 54-hole total of 828 is their best of the season. Segundo Oliva Pinto posted three-straight rounds in the 60’s and ended up with a fifth-place finish on the individual leaderboard.

Arkansas takes the week off to prepare for the SEC Championships at St. Simons Island, GA.

🔺 Teeing Off. For the Arkansas women’s golf team, the SEC Championships start today. The tournament will take place at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Hoover, AL for the 10th consecutive year. The Razorbacks, ranked 35th in the country according to Golfweek, will compete in three rounds of stroke play starting today through Friday in order to qualify for match play over the weekend.
