Razorback Brew 3/4: Stacking dubs
Today, Arkansas baseball is making itself comfortable in the win column.
Good Morning. A sunny Sunday in Fayetteville was made even better with wins from both Razorback baseball and softball, and gymnastics notched a record-setting win on the road. Let’s see what our own victory Monday has to offer.
Here’s what we have for in today’s Brew:
🎥 Face-to-Face with Samara Spencer
⚾️ Staying hot
🐗 And so much more!
🎙️ HOG POD: SAMARA SPENCER
Samara Spencer has been a constant presence during her three seasons at Arkansas. She really has done it all since arriving on the hill—winning SEC Freshman of the Year honors, breaking program records for playing time, and even eclipsing the 1,000-point mark, all in just three years.
Hogs+ host Tera Talmadge sat down with Samara to talk about her journey, what's driven her, and what's next with one season left at Arkansas in the latest episode of the Hog Pod.
🎤 COURTSIDE WITH MUSS
Head Coach Eric Musselman and host Chuck Barrett break down the Razorbacks’ week with a close home loss to Vanderbilt 85-82 and then an exciting back and forth loss at Rupp Arena to Kentucky, 111-102. Khalif Battle continued his hot streak, scoring 36 against Vandy and 34 against the Wildcats.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Stacking Dubs. Second-ranked Arkansas baseball has now won five games in a row after pulling off a weekend sweep over Murray State. Razorback pitching proved to be the undeniable difference.
Hagen Smith struck out 12 over six innings of one-run ball to lead the Hogs to a win on Friday, Brady Tygart struck out 10 on his own Saturday to clinch the series Saturday with a run-rule win, and Mason Molina put up 10 strikeouts to close out the sweep on Sunday.
Over the last eight games, Arkansas starting pitchers have allowed just three runs on 15 hits, including three solo homers, and eight walks while combining for a jaw-dropping 0.69 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 39.0 innings of work.
The Diamond Hogs’ 12-game homestand continues tomorrow against in-state foe UCA.
🔺 Wooo Baby. 16th-ranked Arkansas softball put together a 4-1 weekend in hosting the Wooo Pig Classic. Following the Hogs’ win over South Dakota State to kick things off on Thursday, they shut down Southeast Missouri State and Florida Atlantic on Friday for a doubleheader sweep. Arkansas closed things out with an extra-innings win over SEMO on Sunday to improve its record to 18-4 on the season.
🔺 Another Paradise. Thanks to a 7-under back nine showing, the ninth-ranked Arkansas men’s golf team is one of three schools under par at the 14th annual Cabo Collegiate. The Razorbacks sit in third place at 7-under and have four players among the top 15. Jacob Skov Olesen and Mateo Pulcini (playing as an individual) are tied for second–one shot off the lead–after an opening-round, 3-under 68. John Daly II is tied for eighth thanks to a 2-under 69 and Thomas Curry is tied for 13th, firing a 1-under 70.
🔺 Like a Wagon Wheel. The 6th-ranked Arkansas women’s golf team is back in action this week as the Hogs are set to play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The tournament, which will be broadcast on Peacock all three days, will be played at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and hosted by the Gamecocks. The Hogs will tee off on hole 10 today at 8:20am. Click here to .
🔺 New Heights. For the second time this year, the 12th-ranked Gymbacks set a new program high score on the road.
Arkansas posted a 197.650 in a victory over 13th-ranked Missouri that also included a new program high 49.575 on beam. Sunday’s total mark was over a tenth higher than the previous high set at Alabama in January and was the fifth 197+ score on the season for Arkansas, which matches a program record.
The meet was the last regular season SEC contest for the Gymbacks, and they conclude their conference slate at 4-2-1, the most victories since 2016 and most under head coach Jordyn Wieber.
