Razorback Brew 3/14: Survived to advance
Today, the Razorbacks move on in the SEC Tournament.
Good Morning. We watched a thriller in Nashville, and Arkansas men’s basketball lives to see another day in the SEC Tournament. Relive the final seconds and go inside the locker room after the game, via Hogs+.
Here’s what we have for in today’s Brew:

🎥 HOG VLOG: EMMA KELLEY
Senior gymnast Emma Kelley walks you through a day in the life of an Arkansas Gymback as she prepares for the Hogs' first meet inside Bud Walton Arena. Take a ride with Emma and Arkansas football’s Hudson Clark, and go on the floor with the Razorbacks as they take on the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Survived to Advance. After trailing by 14 points at the intermission, Arkansas men’s basketball engineered a 14-2 run and clawed its way back to take Vanderbilt to overtime and eventually coming out on top, 90-85, in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
Khalif Battle turned in another high-scoring performance with 24 points thanks in part to 13 made free throws on 14 attempts, the most made free throws in a conference tournament game in program history. Khalif’s layup with 18 seconds in OT iced the game for the Hogs.
Arkansas moves on to a second round meeting against South Carolina this afternoon, approximately 25 minutes following the conclusion of Mississippi State-LSU on SEC Network.
🔺 More Than an Athlete. We’re a day away from the Gymbacks’ final home meet of the season! Hogs+ producer and host Tera Talmadge sat down with Razorback gymnast, Maddie Jones, to talk about her journey on The Hill and life outside the gym in the latest episode of the Hog Pod. From making the call to Arkansas herself as a young gymnast to becoming part of the digital staff for the Hogs football team, learn all about the balancing act Maddie is pulling off in Fayetteville.
🔺 Circles on the Card. Arkansas men’s golf has played in three tournaments this Spring, and Jacob Skov Olesen has finished strong in each one. He carded his second consecutive top-five finish Tuesday afternoon at the Seminole Intercollegiate. Jacob is a combined 18-under in his last three tournaments.
🔺 Got That Fire. The Chicago Red Stars have signed former Arkansas soccer midfielder Bea Franklin, the club’s second third-round draft pick in the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft. She joins the club on a one-year contract with a one-year club option.
Franklin becomes the third Hog drafted by Chicago, joining Kayla McKeon (2021) and Ashleigh Ellenwood (2016). She will join former Razorback Taylor Malham in Chicago, who was acquired by the Red Stars in 2023.
