Razorback Brew 2/29: Leap with us

Today, we've got an extra day for Razorback softball and hoops.

Good Morning. And happy Leap Day! This day may only arrive once every four years, but your Razorback brew would never take that leave of absence from you. Let’s enjoy one more day of February.

Here’s what we have in store for today’s Brew:

🎥 Bringing the hype
🥎 Incoming Classic
🐗 And so much more!

Known by Arkansas fans as the resident DJ at Razorback sporting events, DJ Derrick has been hyping up Hog fans for over a decade. He doesn’t constrict his talents to just Arkansas sporting events. Derrick Dansby aka DJ Derrick, has spun at events across the realm of sports: SEC Championships, SEC Tournaments, MLB events—basketball, football, softball, baseball, gymnastics, track & field, you name it, DJ Derrick has been there doing what he does best.

How did he get the gig and how does he go about keeping sports fans hyped up at games with his signature mixes? Bo Mattingly sits down with DJ Derrick to get his story in the latest episode of the Hog Pod.

🔺 Respect The Classics. The Wooo Pig Classic is back at Bogle Park! The 16th-ranked Arkansas softball team will play five games this weekend starting with a matchup vs. South Dakota State this afternoon. Arkansas is 2-0 all-time against South Dakota State. The last meeting between both programs came during the 2021 Fayetteville Regional when the Hogs claimed a 4-0 victory.

The Razorbacks are in the middle of a 17-game homestand that began with a 5-1 showing at the Razorback Invitational this past weekend. They’ll begin this slate at 4pm on SEC Network Plus.

🔺 More Mileage. Arkansas men’s tennis secured a big win in Dallas Wednesday by taking down SMU, 4-2. Sophomore Božo Barun notched his first ranked win of the season after a 6-4, 7-5 dub over the 97th-ranked Adam Neff to clinch the match for the Razorbacks. The Hogs will head to Knoxville this weekend to face the fifth-ranked Tennessee squad.

🔺 Don’t Delay! The deadline for current football season ticket holders to renew their tickets for the upcoming season is tomorrow, March 1. Don't miss out on home matchups against Tennessee, LSU, Texas, and more. Click here to reserve your spots in DWRRS.

🔺 Ks Hit Different. It’s nearly been a week since Hagen Smith's outing vs. No. 7 Oregon State and we’re still not over his 17 strikeouts. Neither is the Golden Spikes Award, considering they’ve named Hagen’s historic game their Performance of the Week. The award annually recognizes the top amateur baseball player, and Hagen was a member of this year’s watch list.

🔺 Unblemished Visitors. The Arkansas women’s basketball team will host undefeated and top-ranked South Carolina tonight for their last home regular season game of the year. It’s the 20th-ever meeting between both programs, and Arkansas has the current series edge at 10-9.

Tune in to SEC Network at 8pm for tip-off.

It starts with YOU! Per NCAA guidelines, funding for NIL cannot come from University or Athletic Department funds or other traditional athletic fundraising endeavors. Instead, it must come from the fans, supporters and businesses of this proud state and fanbase. Here is how you can help us Bring The Edge:

Finale ready. The women’s basketball team is getting ready for their final home game of the regular season! We’ll preview the matchup. Plus, we’re taking a look at the men’s game this weekend at Rupp Arena.
