Razorback Brew 2/13: Birdies calling
Today, Arkansas men's golf is drawing circles on the scorecard.
Good Morning. You ever have those days on the golf course where you just can’t miss? Well, maybe not you, but the Arkansas men’s golf team can absolutely relate. We’ll see how they’re doing in the Caribbean.
Now, what else is in store for today’s Brew?
🎥 Getting to know Ja’Quinden Jackson
⛳️ Razorbacks rise up the leaderboard
🐗 And so much more!
🏈 MEET JA’QUINDEN JACKSON
In his own words, Ja'Quinden Jackson took the football and ran with it. It was his grandfather who gave Ja’Quinden his first handoff, and he hasn’t looked back since. His first scholarship arrived before he was even in high school, and the Dallas native eventually ended up at Texas. Following a few years at Utah, he’s now set to enter the Arkansas backfield.
This episode of “In Studio with Tera” features Tera Talmadge getting to know Utah transfer running back, Ja'Quinden Jackson. Learn about his college career so far, and why he wanted to become a Razorback.
🎤 ERIC MUSSELMAN LIVE
Head Coach Eric Musselman and host Chuck Barrett return to Sassy's to discuss the Hogs’ victory over Georiga and preview the big Tennessee game on Wednesday night. Plus, assistant coach Todd Lee stops by.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 18 Holes, 19 Under. A bogey-free round of 67 from John Driscoll III and a 68 from John Daly II has all six Razorbacks under par through two rounds of the Palmas del Mar Collegiate.
Arkansas was -12 (276) for the day and is tied for the lead with UNC Greensboro at -19 (557). Driscoll is tied for second on the individual leaderboard at -8, while Daly II is tied for eighth at -5. Arkansas is also dominating the par 5s at -25, which is five strokes better than the next closest team.
🔺 History of Pioneers. As part of Black History Month, Razorback Athletics is celebrating diversity and the history and achievements of African Americans. Coordinated by Hogs UNITED and BLAC, the department’s Black Student-Athlete Council, numerous recognitions will be made throughout the month of February. Festivities began last month when members of Hogs UNITED attended the 28th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Recommitment Celebration at the Fayetteville Public Library. Click here to learn how several Razorback teams will be a part of the celebration.
🔺 Precious Metal. Arkansas infielder Wehiwa Aloy and pitcher Hagen Smith have been named to the preseason watch list for the Golden Spikes Award, which is presented annually to the best amateur baseball player in the nation. The preseason list includes 55 players across high school and college baseball. The Golden Spikes Advisory Board will maintain the award’s watch list on a rolling basis, allowing student-athletes to play themselves into consideration for the award based on in-season performance.
🔺 Eyes On The Prize. Arkansas pitching coach Matt Hobbs was almost one hour deep in a detailed break down of personnel when there was a mention of the 2023 baseball season’s early finish. After winning their third SEC overall crown under head coach Dave Van Horn, the Razorbacks did not make it out of their own regional.
The co-defending SEC champs are hungry for the ultimate prize.
Hogs+ senior contributor Clay Henry sits down with pitching coach Matt Hobbs to break down this year's pitching staff and what to expect from the Diamond Hogs this season. Click here to read Clay’s article in which he dissects the interview in-depth, as well as Clay’s full interview with coach Hobbs in the latest episode of the Hog Pod.
