🔺 Visitors For Now. The Arkansas women’s basketball team will open the 2024 Southeastern Conference slate at Kentucky tonight at 6pm on SEC Network Plus. The game will be played at Rupp Arena with Memorial Coliseum under a one-year renovation.
Kentucky is one of the Hogs’ three home-and-away opponents this season. Arkansas will host the Wildcats at Bud Walton Arena later this month. The Hogs’ other two home-and-away opponents are Alabama and Missouri.
🔺 Battle It Out. Position battles are a foundation to Arkansas baseball under head coach Dave Van Horn, and there will be several to watch for in the coming weeks. Jackson Fuller of the Southwest Times Record gives his take on four battles all over the diamond that will impact the Razorbacks’ 2024 campaign.
🔺 Where The Magic Happens. Three-time WGCA Scholar All-American Julia Gregg is representing Arkansas women’s golf in the Sunshine State this week at the Women’s Orlando International Amateur. Julia will begin three rounds of play at the Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills this morning at 7:57am ET. Click here to keep track of her score throughout the tournament.
🔺 Professional Glance. How about an update on our Arkansas NBA rookies? Nick Smith Jr. has games played 17 games for the Charlotte Hornets thus far and has drained an impressive 48.9% of his first 16 3-point attempts. For reference, Kevin Durant leads the league amongst qualified shooters with a 3-point percentage of 47.7%. Anthony Black is also doing well for the Orlando Magic, posting an effective field goal percentage of 56.8% and has started 27 of the 31 games he’s played.
🔺 Last Time Out… Both Smith and Black were integral in Arkansas’ most recent hardwood matchup against Auburn. Black led the team with 19 points while Smith made the go-ahead basket with just 20 seconds remaining to seal an all-important SEC Tournament victory over the Tigers. Arkansas has won four of the last five meetings against Auburn, and will look to make it five of the last six Saturday afternoon.
