🔺 Elite Company. Arkansas’ third match of the season against Kentucky finally ended the right way as the Volley Hogs took down the Wildcats in five sets to advance to the program’s first-ever regional final. In addition to going a step further in the tournament, it was the Razorbacks’ first victory over Kentucky since 2012, the first in head coach Jason Watson’s tenure, and the first for the team’s prolific senior class.
Where else can we start other than Jill Gillen? The graduate outside hitter posted 20 kills on 46 swings with just two errors for a .391 hitting percentage, two aces, and 12 digs for a double-double. She was one of four Razorbacks with a double-double attached to her name along with usual suspects Taylor Head, Maggie Cartwright, and Hannah Hogue.
Thursday’s historic victory sets up a monumental matchup against No. 1 overall seed Nebraska on the Cornhuskers’ home court. The match begins at 5pm tomorrow afternoon in Lincoln, and will be broadcasted live on ESPNU.
🔺 Triple Digits. Arkansas women’s basketball notched its eighth win of the season by dropping 100 points on Louisiana Tech in a 100-60 victory Thursday night. Five Hogs reached double figures in scoring, and the team shot 55% from the field, and 50% from three-point range. Taliah Scott led the Hogs with 29 points, while Samara Spencer followed with a near triple-double behind 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Check out the full recap here.
🔺 No Beginner’s Luck Needed. The Freshman All-SEC team has three Arkansas football players for the second straight year. Defensive back Jaylon Braxton, offensive lineman Andrew Chamblee, and return specialist Isaiah Sategna got the nod after their impressive debut seasons in 2023. The trio join Landon Jackson (1st team), Cam Little (1st team) and Max Fletcher (2nd team) as Razorbacks to earn All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches this week.
🔺 Fresh In The Pool. The Razorback swimming and diving team will welcome four new members in the 2024 signing class. Head Coaches Neil Harper and Abel Sanchez have announced that Ashley Morton, Nilsu Demiran, Sophie Brassington, Holly Robinson, Kanah Pumphrey, and Lotti Hubert will join the Razorbacks for the 2024-2025 season.
🔺 Red vs. Red. Tomorrow is the third and final Crimson and Cardinal Classic between the Arkansas and Oklahoma men’s basketball teams. The Hogs are traveling to the BOK Center in Tulsa, OL to face the 19th-ranked Sooners for a Saturday afternoon tip at 3pm on ESPN2.
The series is currently split entering the rubber match. Arkansas tied it up at 1-1 last year with a 88-78 victory over Oklahoma thanks to 47 combined points from Ricky Council IV and Nick Smith. Relive that exciting game in this episode of The Follow, only on HogsPlus.com.
