Now, what has all been mixed into today’s Brew?
📝 JD, or just John
🏐 America’s best
🐗 And so much more!
⛳️ CLAY HENRY’S LATEST
It can’t be easy to be John Daly’s son. One of the issues is what to call the son. It’s changed through the years. It was once “Little John,” but that no longer seems appropriate. Some tagged him with “LJ.” “John II” was tried for a bit, too.
“My friends here just call me John and I like that,” he said. “I hear JD some, too.”
So what does his Pops call him?
“Son, mostly,” John said.
Then with a grin, John said, “Then there are times he calls me Idiot.”
Right now, everyone is calling him pretty good.
As John Daly II and his legendary father get ready to compete for another PNC Championship this weekend, be sure to keep an eye out for Clay Henry’s latest feature piece on the ascending Arkansas men’s golfer.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Seven Is Heaven. Arkansas football’s 2024 schedule is set as the SEC begins a new era with 16 teams and no divisions starting next season.
The Razorbacks will play seven games inside the state’s borders beginning with the season-opener against UAPB at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock on August 31 before three of the Hogs’ next four games happen on the road with trips to Oklahoma State, Auburn and Arlington, Texas to take on Texas A&M. The schedule, however, closes with five of Arkansas’ final seven games inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, including three in November.
🔺 Breaking New Ground. For the first time ever, Arkansas volleyball has two All-Americans in a single season. Razorback volleyball greats Jill Gillen and Taylor Head were each named AVCA All-Americans this week, which also makes this the first time since 1998 that Arkansas has had an outright All-American. Jill received Second Team honors, and Taylor was named Third Team after being an honorable mention selection in 2022. Junior Hannah Hogue also joined in on the fun with an All-American honorable mention nod.
🔺 You’ve Got Questions. And Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek has the answers. How will Arkansas EDGE support student-athletes through NIL? What did Bobby Petrino say when reaching out for the vacant OC gig? Yurachek joins Matt Zimmerman and Quinn Grovey to give fans an update on a wide array of recent events for Arkansas athletic. 🔺 And The Award Goes To... Two Arkansas track athletes are up for the prestigious Bowerman award this evening. Britton Wilson and Jaydon Hibbert are amongst three male and female finalists for this year’s presentation, and are the fifth and sixth finalists in program history. Arkansas’ lone Bowerman winner, Jarrion Lawson, will also be in attendance for the presentation. Click here to watch the free live stream tonight at 8pm!
