🔺 It’s Bowerman Week. College track and field’s most prestigious award, The Bowerman, is up for grabs Thursday evening with three male and three female athletes vying for the coveted trophy. Arkansas happens to be one of two schools with a finalist for each.
🏃♂️ Jaydon Hibbert is the third Razorback male finalist in program history. He’s also the fifth male freshman to become a finalist and the youngest finalist ever, male or female. His 2023 accolades include South Central Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, South Central Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, SEC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, and SEC Freshman Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.
🎥 Get exclusive inside access with Jaydon and his coach Travis Geopfert during his facility record jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas.
🏃♀️ Britton Wilson is also the third Razorback female finalist in program history. A record-breaking year for Wilson included an American 400m record indoors, running the fastest split ever indoors on a world best 4 x 400m relay, along with a collection of five collegiate records being set in the 400m and 600m indoors, as well as three times in the 400m outdoors. She was named the 2023 SEC Outdoor Runner of the Year, and the 2023 South Central Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
🎥 Watch this episode of Tuesdays with Tera, featuring Britton recapping her championship experience at the NCAA’s.
🔺 To The Next Level. The volleyball careers of Arkansas’ Jill Gillen and Maggie Cartwright will continue at the next level as each were selected in the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) College Draft on Monday. Jill was selected eighth overall by the Omaha Supernovas and was later traded to the Orlando Valkyries. Maggie went 22nd overall to Omaha as well. Arkansas was one of only six schools to have more than one player chosen.
Jill and Maggie concluded their collegiate careers on a high note as they were named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team out of the Lincoln Regional. Each of them were also named AVCA South All-Region, Jill for the fourth time and Maggie for the first.
We’ll see them out on the court soon when the PVF begins its inaugural season next month!
🔺 Like Father, Like Son. As the PNC Championship is just days away, let’s recap the fall season for Arkansas men’s golfer John Daly II:
Only Hog to finish in the top 20 in all four tournaments
Scoring average of 70.45 and had 9 rounds at par or better
