🎙️ HOG POD: TAYLOR HEAD

Taylor Head loves to compete more than just about anything. The senior outside hitter for the Razorback volleyball team comes from a family of college athletes, which brought her a love of competition from an early age. And it’s something on display every time she takes the court. She’s been a big part of the rebirth of the Arkansas volleyball program, and is quick to credit coach Jason Watson, who believed in her when others didn’t. Learn about her journey in the latest episode of the Hog Pod with Bo Mattingly.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Planting Seeds. The Razorback volleyball team will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006 as the Hogs were granted a No. 3 overall seed during the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show on Sunday evening.

Arkansas will welcome Stephen F. Austin, TCU, and Florida State for the first and second rounds of tournament, and the Hogs drew SFA for their opening round match this Friday, December 1 at 7pm. The second round, between the two first round winners, will be held 24 hours later on Saturday, December 2 at 7pm.

Arkansas closed out its regular season Friday battling back from a 2-1 deficit to beat Auburn, 3-2, on the Tigers’ court. The match clinched the Hogs' record at 25-5, 15-3 in the SEC. It’s the first time since 1999 Arkansas has posted 25 regular season wins, and four Razorbacks had double-doubles in the match: Taylor Head, Jill Gillen, Maggie Cartwright and Hannah Hogue. Jill came into the match needing just seven kills to surpass 2,000 in her career and did so easily by the second set, she now sits at 2,009 overall and is just the second Razorback ever to record 2,000 kills. Taylor also reached a new milestone as she entered the program top five in career kills and now has 1,485.

🔺 Triumvirate’s Tale. Taylor, Jill, and Hannah did more than secure double-doubles in a match win this weekend. The trio received All-SEC honors and Jason Watson was also named Co-SEC Coach of the Year. It’s the first time since 2014 that Arkansas has had three players named All-SEC, and Watson becomes the second Arkansas coach to receive SEC annual honors, the first since Chris Poole in 2003. Hannah has also been named Co-SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her strong showing in the classroom as well as on the court.

🔺 Badgered ’Em. Arkansas women’s basketball clinched a 6-0 start for the second consecutive year with a 65-62 win over Wisconsin in their opening game of Fort Myers Tip-Off. The Hogs won Friday thanks in part to a 15-3 run in the beginning of the fourth quarter. The trio of Arkansas guards led the way, starting with Makayla Daniels’ near double-double of 22 points and eight rebounds. Arkansas will return to Florida this week with a game against Florida State in the SEC/ACC Challenge.

🔺 New To The Diamond. Early last week, Arkansas baseball head coach Dave Van Horn and the Razorbacks announced today their 2024 signing class, inking 17 high school standouts and two junior college products to National Letters of Intent.

Arkansas’ 2024 signing class is No. 18 in Perfect Game’s recruiting rankings, the ninth consecutive year that Van Horn, assisted by Nate Thompson, Matt Hobbs and Bobby Wernes, has brought in a top-20 class in Perfect Game’s rankings. Check out the full 19-player class here.
