✍️ CLAY HENRY’S LATEST

The quarterback sneak has been one of the talking points in recent football seasons both in college and NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles made it to the Super Bowl with a play dubbed the “brotherly shove.” Philadelphia is known as the city of brotherly love.

This is a story of brotherly love, but as it pertains to Razorback Nation. The quarterback sneak is part of it, because of a great and wonderful center—Mike Burlingame.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Give & Take. Arkansas’ 44-20 win over FIU on the gridiron grabbed the attention of the SEC as freshman RB Isaiah Augustave and senior DB Alfahiym Walcott received weekly honors from the conference.

Isaiah rushed for 101 yards on 14 carries and was named SEC Freshman of the Week for his performance. The true freshman became Arkansas’ second 100-yard rusher of the season, joining Rocket Sanders as the only Razorback players to accomplish the feat in 2023. Isaiah now leads the Hogs with 323 yards on the ground.

Alfahiym earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding game in the Hog defensive backfield. He finished with five tackles and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. The Wilmington, NC product became the first Arkansas defender with two interceptions, including an interception return touchdown, in a game since DB Chris Houston did so vs. Mississippi State in 2006. His pick-six keeps the Razorback defense first in the nation with five defensive touchdowns this season.

🔺 Thrill Of Jill. For the first time in her final season with the Volley Hogs, graduate outside hitter Jill Gillen has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week as well as overall conference Player of the Week. Jill earned her seventh weekly award of her career following double-doubles in back-to-back five-set victories over Ole Miss and No. 20 Florida. She’s currently second in the SEC in kills/set with 4.22, and tied for first in aces/set with 0.44.

🔺 Battle-Tested. If there’s one thing Razorback basketball fans have already figured out about Khalif Battle, it’s that he can flat-out score. The grad transfer from Temple is off to a hot start in his Arkansas career, which shouldn’t come as a surprise considering he averaged nearly 18 points a game last season. Khalif’s childhood shaped who he’s become as a player, and now that he’s showcasing his talents on one of the sport’s biggest stages, he is ready to help the Razorbacks reach their goals. Hear his story in the latest episode of the Hog Pod.

🔺 Points For All. Arkansas women’s basketball is 5-0 out the gate for the third time in Mike Neighbors’ tenure as head coach. The Razorbacks won another in-state game Monday night as they defeated Central Arkansas, 81-67, on the team’s Native American Heritage Appreciation Month game.

All five starters for Arkansas had 10 or more points led by Saylor Poffenbarger and freshman Taliah Scott, whom both put up 17 a piece. It was the first game in which Arkansas’ starting five all reached double figures since January 16 vs. Vanderbilt last season.
