Razorback Brew 11/2: Rollin' Roland

Today, one of Arkansas' greatest players is deservedly honored.

Good morning. Arkansas soccer’s run in the SEC Tournament continues today from Pensacola, FL, while the Hog football team continues preparations to play in another part of the Sunshine State. We’ve also got some hot and fresh Tea for your Thursday morning!

Now, what has all been mixed into today’s Brew?

🎥 Talkin’ trash
🏐 Hogs vs. Dawgs
🐗 And so much more!

🫖 THAT’S THE TEA

Playful chatter. In the latest episode of That’s the Tea, hosts Tera Talmadge and Taliyah Brooks debate the topic of 'trash talk' with Makayla Daniels and Sasha Goforth from the Arkansas women's basketball team. Is it catty, or is it competitive? Two of Arkansas’ best give their take on the matter.

Hogs+ is home to original films and docuseries telling the stories of some of the greatest players, coaches and moments in Razorback history. Watch the new Razorback Films trailer!

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Rollin’ Roland. The Orange Bowl Hall of Fame will add former Arkansas running back Roland Sales in this year’s class, joining former Penn State quarterback Chuck Burkhart and former Oklahoma defensive back Bud Herbert

Sales, who rushed for 1,240 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns for the Hogs, is most noted for his role in Arkansas’ 31-6 victory vs. No. 2 Oklahoma in the 1978 Orange Bowl. Sales rushed for a then-Orange Bowl record 205 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns as Arkansas concluded the 1978 season ranked No. 3 in the nation.

🔺 Schutte-ing Star. Freshmen Abbey Schutte continued to shine for Arkansas women’s golf last week and was subsequently named SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week. Abbey had an incredible showing at the Diamante Intercollegiate in Hot Springs Village last week, ending her fall season as the runner-up of the tournament thanks to a career-low score of 9-under-par. The Goodyear, Arizona native has finished each of her five rounds played this season at under par, holding a 69.80 scoring average and has placed in the top five in both of her tournament appearances for a .965 winning percentage.

🔺 Fancy A Freestyle? Arkansas swimmer Bella Cothern was tabbed as the SEC Women’s Co-Swimmer of the week for her pair of wins in the 50 and 100 Freestyle last week against Stanford, and aiding her relay team to second-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Bella’s 50 Freestyle time was a personal best and the seventh-fastest time nationwide.

🔺 Play It Again. Exactly one week after defeating Mississippi State to outright win the SEC regular season title, the top-seeded Razorback soccer team will face the Bulldogs in the SEC Tournament semifinals. Arkansas is back in the final four of the tournament after losing in the quarterfinals last year. This time around they took down Auburn 4-0 to get here, and Mississippi State got past Alabama in a penalty kick shootout.

First kick this afternoon will be at 5pm and can be watched on SEC Network.
