In part one of this Emmy-winning three-part series, Clay Henry sits down with Hall of Fame coach Barry Switzer to talk about his roots in Crossett, Arkansas and his journey to becoming a Razorback. Switzer takes us through his family's time in California during World War II, his father's bootlegging days, how it affected him, his quitting football, and his decision to come to Arkansas.

✍️ SIGNING DAY NEWS

🔺 Staying Home. The best high school basketball player in Arkansas is staying in Arkansas! Five-star JJ Andrews, a 6-6 wing from Little Rock Christian Academy, signed with the Razorbacks yesterday. He is a consensus top-15 player in the nation, the 2024-25 Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year, 2025 Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas Preps Boys Player of the Year, along with many other honors.
His father, Shawn, is one of the most decorated Razorbacks, playing on Arkansas’s offensive line from 2001-03. He went on to have a seven-year career in the NFL. His mother, Janetta, played basketball at Western Carolina.

🔺 Pen To Paper. Connecticut’s two-time Player of the Year and top 30 player in the country Abdou Toure also signed to the Razorback men’s basketball team yesterday. The four-star is the 12th highest-ranked prospect by ESPN that Arkansas has ever signed. He has led Notre Dame High School to two state championships. Toure also had a standout performance at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 23 points per game for Guinea.

🔺 Signed, Sealed, & Delivered. Arkansas women’s basketball signed Kyiah Prestridge, a 6-1 combo guard from Moore, Oklahoma. Prestridge, ranked No. 1 in Oklahoma and No. 66 nationally, averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in her junior season.

🔺 Another One. Razorback gymnastics signed another top-10 class for 2026-27! Coach Weiber and company welcome four new Gymbacks.

🔺 Take Five. Arkansas softball signed five new Razorbacks on National Signing Day! The class is currently ranked in the top 15 nationally by both D1 Softball and Softball America.

🔺 From France To Fayetteville. The women’s golf team signed Melliyal Schmitt from Reunion Island, France! She moved to Guyancourt to train at the French National Golf Performance Center at the age of 14. She has been selected to the French National Team three times and has won five of her last eight tournaments.
