🏈 RAZORBACK FOOTBALL PREVIEW

Written by Alyssa Riley

With a 58-25 sweeping victory over Mississippi State last weekend, the Razorbacks took home their fifth win of the season, but that’s not all. Quarterback Taylen Green was honored by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, naming him Offensive Player of the Week for his “standout performance.” It was standout, for sure, as he completed 23 out of 30 passing attempts for 314 yards and had five touchdowns, a career-high.

Looking toward Saturday’s game against No. 19 Ole Miss at 11 a.m., Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart will have to give it his all, as Green exceeds him in rushing attempts, rushing yards, and touchdowns. He will also face Ole Miss defensive end, Suntarine Perkins, also an honored Walter Camp athlete but as Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Coming off “one of the best pass rushing performances in Ole Miss history against Oklahoma,” hopefully Green and the Razorback team will be on their A-game to defeat.

This game, the Razorback’s third at home, is sure to be an exhilarating one, as the two teams share a most-played rivalry. This Saturday will make the 71st game between the two, dating back to 1908. Arkansas’ home-field domination throughout this rivalry is evident, with a record of 13-2 victories. Although the record is lopsided, the Rebels took the 27-20 win in the last remaining minutes at last year’s standoff in Oxford.

With Ja’Quinden Jackson out again with an injury, fans anticipate another outstanding performance from running back Braylen Russell – especially having earned SEC Freshman of the Week after rushing for career-high yards against Mississippi State. After the sixth SEC game of the season is completed, we hope to see the Hogs rightfully receive the one win they need for bowl eligibility this season.
