🔺 Keeping Top-20 Company. Arkansas men’s basketball will begin its third straight season as a top-20 team in the country. The first AP Poll that dropped Monday has the Hogs ranked 14th, the second-highest opening ranking for an SEC team this year behind only Tennessee. Arkansas last made the AP preseason top 25 in at least three consecutive years back in the 1990s from 1993-1996. It’s the fourth-ever such streak in program history.

🔺 If there’s one thing El Ellis knows how to do, it’s score. The talent has always been there, but El started his journey at the JuCo level, and had to fight for his opportunities. He made it work, transferring to Louisville, where he played the past two seasons, leading the Cardinals in scoring. But he wanted to achieve more. Now at Arkansas as a grad transfer, he knows the work doesn’t stop. In this episode of the Hog Pod, we get to know one of the newest Razorbacks, El Ellis, who’s putting in the work at Arkansas to be part of something great.

🔺 No Goals For You! Arkansas soccer’s 3-0 shutout victory over Florida last week was made possible by defender Ellie Podojil and the rest of the Hogs’ backline. Ellie was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for playing every second of the Razorbacks’ suffocating win over the Gators. The Cincinnati, OH native held Florida to just six shots on the night, the lowest shot total the Razorbacks have allowed in SEC play this season. Podojil and the Arkansas defense have given up the fewest goals (4) in SEC play and lead the conference with four shutouts in league play.

🔺 Arkansas defensive end Landon Jackson had himself a DAY against Alabama on Saturday. Landon set career highs in tackles (11), tackles for loss (3.5-24 yards) and sacks (3.5-24 yards) vs. the Crimson Tide, and his dominant performance earned him SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors. He’s the only SEC player with at least 3.5 sacks in a single game this season, and it’s the most sacks by a Razorback in a single game in 11 years when Trey Flowers had 3.5 vs. Auburn in 2012.
