🏆 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN BOOT

Written by Alyssa Riley

Coming off a bye week and the unforgettable 19-14 win over No. 4 Tennessee on Oct. 5 that caused students, Fayetteville visitors, and fans alike to storm the field, the Razorbacks have much to look forward to in their seventh game of the year this Saturday, Oct. 19.

It’s homecoming weekend, so the University of Arkansas will be ‘Calling All Hogs Home’, as is the theme of this year’s celebration. During such festivities, the Razorbacks will take on the No. 8 LSU Tigers, who are also coming off a field-storming win over No. 9 Ole Miss. Yet, the Razorbacks are not backing down. If their victory over Tennessee tells us anything, it’s that Arkansas football does not cower over a top-ranked team. That said, the Tigers better hold onto their stripes on our home turf, as they have some Hogs headed their way.

Thankfully, the bye week allowed several players to recover and prepare for this week’s game, including Taylen Green, who has been suffering from a bone bruise on his left knee after an illegal low hit by Tennessee’s Omarr Norman-Lott. Still, his quarterback statistics speak for his skills on the field, with 1,502 passing yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions. Going toe-to-toe with the one who helps “power Arkansas’ rushing offense” is the LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, with 1,989 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions this season.

Let’s hope Green once again uses his skills masterfully on Saturday to keep the Razorback momentum strong. We will also see running backs Ja’Quinden Jackson and Caden Durham (LSU) compete for the ball, as will be the same with receivers Andrew Armstrong and Mason Taylor (LSU). As we ‘Call All Hogs Home’ this weekend, may we also send the Tigers back to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with their tails between their legs.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. tomorrow on ESPN. Be sure to WEAR RED!
