Razorback Brew 6/21: Earning Their (Stars &) Stripes

Razorbacks Set To Take On 2024 US Olympic Trials

TGIF Arkansas Fam. This time of year, most of us are looking forward to weekends filled with relaxation and family time.

This weekend though, plenty of our Razorbacks will be doing far from relaxing as they compete for a chance of a lifetime out west.

We’ll recap that and more in today’s Brew! Check it out below!

🏆 51

It was another special spring on the track for the Arkansas Track & Field program.

After their performance at NCAA Championships earlier this month, a new flag will fly over John McDonnell Track - 51, representing 51 overall championships between the men’s and women’s program.

Learn more about this tradition and hear from key figures such as Coach Chris Johnson, AD Hunter Yurachek, and sprinter Amber Anning

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Earning Their (Stars &) Stripes. This weekend, while most of us are trying to find some time to relax, 36 of our own will be looking to earn their stars and stripes.

Today kicks off one of the biggest weekend’s of the year for USA Track & Field with the start of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

A group that includes 16 UA alums, 10 current Razorbacks, along with 10 professionals who train in Fayetteville will all compete for the ultimate goal of earning a spot on Team USA for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

A top three finish in their respective events will earn that coveted spot.

🔺 Power Pair. Yet again, the Razorbacks are setting the standard on the track.

For the second consecutive year Arkansas has a pair of athletes named among the 10 semifinalists for the men’s 2024 Bowerman.

High jumper Romaine Beckford and long jumper Wayne Pinnock, both from Jamaica, become the sixth and seventh Razorbacks to be a semifinalist for the Bowerman, which was first awarded in 2009.

Last season Arkansas was represented by a pair of Jamaicans in Jaydon Hibbert and Carey McLeod, with Hibbert claiming the Bowerman award.

It is also the second straight year that Arkansas is the lone school with a pair of Bowerman semifinalists.

🔺 Summertime Sweatin’. 10 weekends. 69 days.

That’s all that separates the Hogs from the official kickoff of the 2024 Arkansas football season.
